The westernmost steppe lake in Europe, shallow enough to be warm all summer and ringed by reed beds. Rust is known for the storks that nest on its chimneys, Podersdorf for its beach and lighthouse, and the whole of Burgenland for its wine. The closest of our day trips, and the most relaxed.
