A medieval town in southern Bohemia, wrapped in a loop of the Vltava and listed by UNESCO in its entirety. The castle above it is the second largest in the Czech Republic and keeps a baroque theatre that still works. Small enough to see on foot in an afternoon, and far less crowded than Prague.
